After having a bitter disagreement with his friend and
manager Jehangir Khan (Kay Kay Menon) about the latter's blatant abuse of power
and influence to win a dance competition called "Dance Dil Se" for
his team JDC (Jehangir Dance Company), the choreographer of the dance company,
Vishnu (Prabhu Deva), quits his job. At first he wants to return home to
Chennai, but his friend Gopi (Ganesh Acharya) persuades him to stay in Mumbai
with him. After witnessing some underprivileged local youngsters' dancing
abilities at a religious celebration, Vishnu decides to start his own dance
group with them. The main challenges for Vishnu are the lack of discipline among
the dancers and the rivalry between the two factions in the group lead by D
(Dharmesh Yelande) and Rocky (Salman Yusuff Khan). There is also Chandu (Punit
Pathak), a drug addict trying to overcome his addiction through dance and Rhea
(Lauren Gottlieb), who was JDC's star pupil until Jehangir tried to take sexual
advantage of her. Rhea later joins Vishnu's team. Rocky starts going out with
Rhea, which angers D. One day, the police tell them to vacate the studio as per
D's father's complaint. Vishnu tries to make him understand that he should let
D to do what he is good at. After his father pushes D out of his house, D
continues to dance and live at Chandu's residency. In the auditions of Dance
Dil Se, D and Rocky starts to fight in the act itself. However Jehangir
approves their entry describing them as "jokers". Chandu makes D and
Rocky friends by convincing D that Rocky is settled with Rhea and Bhawna is
interested in him. D and Rocky becomes best of friends. DDR reaches the semi
finals and to celebrate Chandu visits his old friends and does drugs. Vishnu
Sir is livid but everyone supports Chandu's resolve to leave his addiction and
give Chandu the lead dancer's part. Chandu is going to surprise Shaina by
proposing to her after the semi finals and buys her a ring. Just then he again
meets his old druggie friends who want to see his ring and ask Chandu to join
them for a round of drugs. Chandu refuses and asks for his ring back. His
friend then throws the ring box towards him which falls down. As Chandu is
about to retrieve it he is hit by a truck and dies. All are waiting for Chandu
to turn up for the semi finals when they learn of his demise. They are shocked
but resolutely go ahead with their touching semi final dance routine. DDR
reaches the finals only to get a shock that their act has been performed by
JDC! Mayur ultimately comes out to be the culprit who has sold out DDR and
becomes JDC's lead dancer as well. DDR prepared their act within 10 minutes
eventually emerge out as the winners of "Dance Dil Se"
