As per reports of September
20, 2011 , Aashiqui 2 was
announced. Director Vishal Mahadkar was earlier supposed to direct the sequel to
Aashiqui. Later, Mohit Suri opted to direct the film. Aashiqui 2 is set in
modern day with modern tales of love and is scripted by Shagufta Rafiqui. Soon after the announcement of the
movie, post the scripting, there was a rumor of Tiger Shroff (son of Jackie
Shroff)as the lead actor. But T-Series and Bhatt camp finally announced the
lead hero would be played by Aditya Roy Kapoor and the lead actress will be
Shraddha Kapoor, daughter of actor Shakti Kapoor. The movie was initially
scheduled to release by the end of 2012 and later for then for Valentine 2013
release. However, due to the immense popularity of the song "Tum Hi
Ho", the makers preponed the release to 26 April 2013 .
